I am unable to save (i.e. export) the file to PDF using MS Publisher, when I include crop marks in my printout.
When saving Publisher file as PDF, I lose font color. I am creating posters in Publisher, then converting to PDF in order to take to printer. Color fonts automatically convert to black - doesn't matter which font. How can I fix that so that the posters print as designed? Karen Freeman. Here's how to convert Publisher to PDF format: Step 1. Once you are done editing the file and are now looking to save it. In the 'Save As' dialogue box that opens up, first name the file. The file is now saved into your designated folder in the.pdf format.
Saving the file otherwise works, but when I include crop marks, it simply fails with a generic message 'Cannot save the file'. It doesn't offer any additional troubleshooting options that I am aware of.
Has anyone had similar problems before, or a way to circumvent this?

At the end, I solved my problem by printing to PDF (instead of using the Publishers 'native' Save to PDF). I enabled crop marks in advanced output settings and used PDF Creator (but probably any PDF capture driver will do).
The results may differ a bit for more complex elements, but PDF Creator files are actually generally smaller (having image compression and downsampling disabled on both sides).
But I did have situations where PDF Creator was unable to render some elements properly, and this is why I tried avoid this path initially.

Microsoft Publisher To Pdf

I edit a parish magazine - 20 pages in Publisher 2016. Many of the small adverts are text boxes I have created with text, images, clipart etc. They have all been printing fine for months. They all still look OK on screen in Publisher - BUT
Suddenly this month, when I save the publisher file as a .pdf to send it to the commercial printer, some of the adverts have lost all the manipulation I have saved in Publisher (and have saved as .pdfs month after month with no problem) and reverted to their component parts.
For example, a text box ad for a Tree Surgeon, which had a tree image as a grey watermark behind the text - suddenly the tree image appears in colour and overlaying the text! (It's fine on screen in Publisher, but not in the .pdf or when I print it out.)
In another case, I have given a text box a pale grey background using the eyedropper to pick the colour of the background of a logo in the ad, so it is all the same shade. Now that colour has changed so although it all looks the same shade on screen (and has always printed/saved that way) now the background is not the same as that of the logo, either when I print on paper, or when I publish as a .pdf file.
I can only think that a Windows10 automatic update has somehow altered settings in either Publisher 2016 or Adobe Acrobat.
Can Publisher Save As Pdf
I have had to resort to saving each advert as a picture, then re-inserting it in the magazine - but that is only a workaround to enable me to go to press today.
(To be clear, I am using the Save as PDF command within Publisher, not a 3rd party app;
I am using the 'Commercial Printer' option when I save;
My default printer is a colour Epson inkjet - and has been for months;
I have 'repaired' Adobe Reader from within Windows 10;
None of these suggestions, from this and other forums, has made any difference)
